He is a reviewer and past member of the editorial board for the journal Obstetrics and Gynecology. He is currently on the Editorial Board for Clinical Updates in Women's Health Care and is one of the editors of the text book Step Up to Obstetrics and Gynecology. He currently sits on the Board of Directors for the Exxcellence Foundation for Women's Health and is a past member of the Board of Directors for the American Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology and the American Board of Family Medicine. Snyder is board-certified in Obstetrics and Gynecology and has been an oral board examiner for the American Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology since 1996. Snyder has made UTMB his home since then.ĭr. He is an examiner of the American Board of Anesthesiology in Pain Medicine and holds dual board certifications in Anesthesiology and Pain Management from The American Board of Anesthesiology. For this, he has received numerous accolades, including being named one of the top Pain Medicine Physicians in Richmond Magazine’s annual “Top-Doc” issue every year since 2000, as well as Who’s Who in Health Care and the Consumer Research Council of America to Top Physicians Award. Long’s training and experience have enabled him to provide accurate medical diagnoses and treatments for his patients. He takes great pride in being friendly, courteous and always available to listen and treat his patients who suffer from acute and chronic pain.ĭr. As a pioneer in private pain in Virginia, he aims to provide a warm, caring, safe and state-of-the-art environment to treat pain. He is passionate, conservative, and very caring about his patients and their families. Long is involved in pain medicine so that he can give his patients an opportunity to get their life back. Long has multiple publications concerning areas of pain management.ĭr. Long has lectured extensively throughout the world on topics pertaining to acute, chronic and cancer pain as well as legal and regulatory issues involving pain management. Long has served on the boards of the VCU Health System and the American Society of Anesthesiologists. He is an Associate Clinical Professor of anesthesiology at VCU where he still actively teaches 2nd and 4th-year medical students. He subsequently completed specialty training and board certification in Pain Medicine and remained on faculty as co-director of the VCU Pain Management Center from 1991 until 1998. Long is a Phi Beta Kappa graduate of Randolph-Macon College and Virginia Commonwealth University’s School of Medicine where he also completed two years of surgical residency followed by an anesthesiology residency at the Medical College of Virginia Hospitals.
